Everything a solo camper could want - at only $10 a night (sans electricity hook up) - quick access to a hot shower, a short walk to the bathrooms (that don't stink!), and a path right to a beautiful access point into Rifle River. There are canoe, tube, and kayak rentals and a camp store. You can park at your campsite, and there are group sites and small sites. The group sites are in a more open area with more fire rings and picnic tables central to the whole campground. There are sites with fantastic privacy and you can even hear the river running if you pitch tent far back enough. Both electric and nonelectric sites available! Absolutely wonderful place. Pet and kid friendly!!

Janice was a very nice lady always made sure we were doing OK...i do have a few bad things to say tho. The bathrooms are most definitely rustic, showers were cold at first which Janice then fixed then they were too hot then after she adjusted them once again they were perfect, besides the dirty uncleaned mats that we stood on. You could definitely tell that she does not maintain the campites very well. The tubes looked as if they hadn't been used in months maybe years, the canoes had holes in them and tags from back in 2015. Overall I would only come back if it was for a last min over night stay leave in the morning kind of thing. Sorry Janice thank you tho.

Rented a couple kayaks for a three hour trip. Would of been nice to know that there were several trees down completely blocking the river. Three times we had to slam into the downed tree, get out of the kayak and pull it over while being careful not to lose it to the river's current. Now they can't really help nature and falling trees, but a simple heads up would of been lovely. It also would of been nice if the kayaks didn't have screw holes on the top and side, so while stuck against a downed tree, the current didn't splash and fill our kayaks with water. The tags on the kayak said no one over 150lbs, so basically no human adult. And with how shallow parts of the river are, we spent no less than 20 minutes total try to rock our kayak out of sand banks. All this had us really annoyed through the trip, but I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt, thinking "The river conditions could be very recent, maybe they didn't know." I thought that till we finally spotted our landing, and found another downed tree blocking it. I paddled full speed into it hoping to get my kayak on top of the tree (got about a quarter of the way on), then quickly jumped into the 3-4' water to catch my girlfriend's kayak. We were very lucky to even make it to that landing, it would of been very easy to miss the landing or lose the kayak while trying to get it to the beach.

Again, all of this would of at least been less crappy if they had just warned us about the river conditions. Just mentioned the downed trees and blocked landing site so we knew what we were getting into. Instead, we paid $70 for a chill kayak experience, and instead had to spend as much time pulling, lifting, and emptying our kayaks as we did actual kayaking.

Had a great time camping at troll landing, the staff was very nice & friendly!!! My only problem with the campground was they really did not have anything for kids :-( if your looking for a quiet camping trip, this is the place!

Very small campground. We had no privacy in our "group campsite". We had plain view of the owners trailer that they lived in, as they had plain view of us. The bathrooms were not kept up. The part of the river we floated down was horrific, trees laying across everywhere & huge rocks sticking out of the water. We had to get off countless times to direct us around all this. Also the tubes don't have cables to connect to one another. Make sure to take lots of beer if you choose this river trip, you'll need it!
